War Eagle Cavern- $25 worth of thrills

We took Stan and Lisa out to War Eagle Mill and then to War Eagle Cavern on Monday.

Here's the entrance.

FYI, this photo was taken moments before a bat flew at me. Luckily I ducked instead of dodged, because then that would have confused him. Since they use echo location, they know exactly where you are, and normally don't run into you. But when you move quickly, that's when they run into you, because you weren't where their sonar said you were!
This little guy is waving "Hi". Looking up a flute atleast 40 feet tall
At the top you can see the cavern above us. Another cute little guy. After a while you got used to the fact they were hanging inches above your head everywhere you went.

P.S. If you want to visit the cave without the presence of bats, the guide said June is when they're all out during the day. But if you ask me,
the cave wouldn't have been as interesting without the flying critters.Did you know that when they are hanging, their feet are in a relaxed position?! Opposite direction of muscle contraction as when our hands are flat, but same principle of minimal muscle exertion.
A teeny tiny salamander. The guide says he's a type they don't see very often.

At the end of the tour, our guide turned of all the lights. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face! Bryson got Lisa pretty good though. He touched her hair, and she freaked out thinking it was a bat!

If you look closely, you can see the tiny formations. They're mini-versions of the mineral formations at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone.

I'm not quite sure if I would like the bats, but I guess it does add ambiance to the cave!
